circumstances build or ruin you
it's cliched
but not yet trite
i can be confident yet feel like a loser
i just gotta believe in my God-given talents and abilities
i'm a perfectionist but i know i'm not perfect
sometimes, i just gotta leave things be
and accept the way things are
i'm tough yet vulnerable
but i'll never tolerate extremism
i stand firm in what i believe in
my values, my principles
it's a harsh world
it's all i can do to stay afloat
no human being can change me
it's only i who can make a difference
if only i choose to change
it's not about conforming to who people think i ought to be
it's about staying true to myself
because then
who am i?
